Hawk River Construction was founded more than 45 years ago! We provide all aspects of site preparation for residential and commercial applications. Our services include: road building, septic system installation, excavation, landscape architectural design and more; in Haliburton, Minden, Highlands East, Algonquin Highlands, and area.

Starting wage will vary based on experience

This position requires various fabrication on: Light Duty Trucks, Heavy Duty Trucks and Construction Equipment with a concentration on safe practices. This position will also require the successful applicant to perform other mechanical duties as assigned.

Job Duties:
· Inspect, repair and fabricate units,
· Inspect for signs of wear and/or damage,
· Adhere to workplace safety policies, regulations and compliances,
· Communicate any unsafe conditions or accidents/injuries in a timely manner to the supervisor in order to facilitate prompt correction or reporting,
· Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, and streamline work processes,
· Diagnose defects in equipment and perform repairs,
· Accurate completion of timecards,
· Test repaired equipment for proper performance,
· Clean, inspect and perform other maintenance,
· Keep detailed and accurate maintenance reports and documentation,
· Maintain a working knowledge of changes in technology and repair techniques,
· Mechanical repair work as required,
· Conduct yourself in a professional and mature manner,
· Other duties as assigned.

Employment Requirements:
· Minimum 3 years of Welding/Mechanical experience, preferably in a Construction Industry,
· Must have welding license for various welding techniques including but not limited to: ARC, MIG, and aluminum welding
· Able to design and retrofit plows, harnesses, salter boxes, etc.,
· Proven mechanical abilities in hydraulics and electrical,
· Excellent oral and written skills,
· Excellent observational skills and a strong attention to detail,
· Exceptional organizational abilities with task prioritization,
· Able to work in a fast-paced environment,
· Must be independently motivated,
· Must be able to work effectively as a team,
· Must be able to follow safe work procedures,
· Maintain a valid driver’s license
· CWB Certification an asset.

Working Conditions
· Various locations including both residential and commercial construction sites,
· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment,
· Work near heavy equipment and other vehicles on a regular basis,
· Work outdoors in various conditions including heat, humidity, rain, dust, noise and cold;
· Work flexible hours including occasional weekend, overtime and on-call work,
· Safety equipment will be required, such as: safety boots, hearing protection and safety glasses,
· Stand, lift, bend and reach for long periods of time.
