We are currently seeking an energetic and movitated individual to join our Public Works team as a Seasonal Labourer. Key responsibilities include providing support and a variety of maintenance construction activities, snow/ice removal, maintenance and repair services to roads, bridges, culverts, drainage and other road works maintenance.

This is a seasonal position to a maximum of 8 months per calendar year, anticipated for the 2022 and 2023 seasons.

The position is based on a forty-two (42) hour work week, with hours subject to change seasonally. The current rate of pay is $19.67/hour as per the LOCAL 4286 Collective Agreement – Schedule “A”. Earnings will be subject to Union dues.

Minimum Qualifications:

You have a general knowledge of vehicles, equipment and materials used in road maintenance and operations. You have demonstrated good communication and public relation skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to those who possess a minimum of Grade 12 and one (1) year related experience. Chainsaw training, certification in the Ontario Traffic Manual Book 7 and First Aid & CPR/AED are an asset. Possession of a minimum class D’Z’ Endorsement Driver’s License, or ability to obtain is preferred.

Prior to the final selection for the position, Candidates shall be required to provide, at their own expense, a Criminal Records and Judicial Matters Check from the Ontario Provincial Police or appropriate Police Force and Driver’s Abstract.
