DZ Driver:
This position is responsible for transporting raw materials while practicing safe operation of equipment on highways, and on county roads with
challenging terrain.

Job Duties:
– Operate and drive heavy trucks to
transport equipment and material on local routes,
– Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle such as condition of equipment, in conjunction with loading and unloading of cargo,
– Ensure cargo is secured properly in accordance with safety requirements and follow safe procedures for transporting goods,
– Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption,
– Administer bills of lading and manually maintain log books,
– Communicate with Operations Manager, General Manager, other drivers and customers,
– May perform emergency roadside repairs,
– Operate equipment in a safe and efficient manner in order to minimize the risk of injury and property damage,
– Other duties as assigned (this may include but is not limited to: operating tandem and tri axle dump trucks; floating or crushing and stacking equipment, snow plowing, etc.).

Employment requirements:
– Minimum 3 years of heavy driving experience,
– Current DZ license with clean driving abstract,

– Good knowledge of permits, load security and dimension of loads,
– Excellent oral and written skills,
– Excellent observational skills and a strong attention to detail,
– Knowledge of Haliburton County routes,
– Ability to follow safe work procedures,
– Basic measurement and calculation skills,
– Good analytical and problem solving skills,
– Ability to work independently and with little supervision; as part of a team,
– Speak, read and write English,
– Computer skills and asset,
– Comply with Health and Safety Laws; and Laws of
the Highway Traffic Act,
– Proper and reliable transportation to and from
work.

Working Conditions:
– Various locations including both residential and commercial construction sites,
– Ability to work in a fast paced environment,
– Work near heavy equipment and other vehicles on a regular basis,
– Work outdoors in various conditions including heat and humidity, rain, dust, noise and cold,
– Work flexible hours
