We are currently seeking a Lead Hand who is a highly motivated and energetic individual to join our Community Services Department. Reporting to the Director of Community Services, or designate(s), the Community Services Lead Hand is responsible for a variety of operation and maintenance services, landscaping, snow/ice removal and basic equipment repair for the Community Services Department. The Lead Hand assists in the management of the facilities, parks, beaches, boat launches and cemeteries, and maintenance programs.
This is a full time, union position, based on forty (40) hours per week, being variable shifts, including days, evenings, weekends and Statutory holidays as required, and may be subject to change. The current rate of pay is $27.17/hour as per the LOCAL 4286 CUPE Collective Agreement. Earnings will be subject to Union dues.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum grade 12
- minimum of 3 years’ experience in a Municipal parks, cemeteries and facilities environment, including some supervisory experience is required. A minimum of 1 or 2 years of Lead Hand experience is preferred.
- Experience operating all of the following: ice resurfaced, backhoe, single axle truck and trailering equipment
- Thorough knowledge of equipment, vehicles and materials used in Municipal parks, cemeteries, facilities and maintenance procedures
- certified Ice Technician professional designation.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, the following certifications are required: Propane Handling & Safety, Chainsaw Safety Awareness and Fall Protection Awareness
- a basic understanding and experience with Microsoft suites
- Possession of a valid “D” drivers license for Ontario
